Drum Corps International Launches Nimbit Store

Our friends at Drum Corp International  just launched their Nimbit Store on Facebook!  Just in time for the holidays, you can get DCI’s Silver Bells: A Drum Corp International Holiday Collection, which boasts percussive, marchy interpretations of yuletide melodies from time immemorial, with a peppering of  some more contemporary numbers.
At a hefty 24 tracks, Silver Bells boasts an undeniably thorough selection of tree-trimming tunes, though I would have thought that “Little Drummer Boy” would have been kind of a natural. There are tons of other recordings on their store, as well as a Blu-ray set and some other nice merch.
Furthermore, DCI is taking advantage of Fan Check-In to better engage their ever-growing community. Check-in yourself before you wreck-in yourself at fancheck.in/dci to take advantage of a special offer!
This is just the first of many great things to come as PreSonus and DCI are planning an illustrious future together. We’re excited for all great things moving forward.

Jamie Bergeron and the The Kickin’ Cajuns LIVE CD Made Practical by StudioLive

[This just in from Jamie from the Kickin’ Cajuns!]

Hey PreSonus! Last year I purchased a Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 board from a local dealer, and have nothing but great things to say. I’ve had a Midas board for seven years prior, and one night at a club gig a fight broke out, and the subsequently spilled drinks ended its poor li’l life beyond a worthy repair.

As the front man, I’m none too savvy on the technical aspects of the equipment, so I got some advice from my engineers and some other local sound companies. So we started looking and ended up going with the StudioLive. We used a 24.4.2 for front house initially, then added a 16.4.2 for in-ears. It’s not only a high-quality piece, but very affordable. I paid three times the amount for my other board, and this thing runs circles around it and the sound quality is unbelievable!

Well, all aside from the great sound we were getting as a band, we recently found ourselves overdue for a new CD. I had always talked about a Live album because I think our live show is killer; and have often heard that confirmed by our audiences! I started checking out prices pricing for someone to record the album. Days later my engineer said, “Jamie, we can record ourselves live with the PreSonus”. I was like, “well let’s get with it!”

Long story short, we recorded us where we thought we were getting the best sound quality as far as venue, crowd and band performance were concerned—and with a few tweaks here and there, Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns “Live Like Dat” CD was born.

I’ve gotten numerous compliments in all aspects of this CD, which is our number six. Since then, I have seen some local competing bands switching to… guess who?

PRESONUS!!!!!

Thanks, Jamie

#TeamPreSonus Spotlight: Ivan Muñoz!

PreSonus Artist Ivan Muñoz is known to many for the industrial stylings of Vigilante, but he has many other projects going on—and PreSonus is a factor in each of them!

Who are you, where are you, and what do you do?

Hi, I’m Musician/Producer/DJ Ivan Muñoz. I’m from Chile, but right now I’m living in France.
Currently I’m working with my three musical projects Vigilante (Industrial/Electro), Hopeless (Electronic/EDM), and Big Brother (Dubstep/Drum & Bass). I’m also doing some mixing, mastering and multimedia design with my company, Still Alive Studios.

How were you introduced to PreSonus?

I got introduced by some friends, at the time i was looking for a new audio interface for my live presentations some years ago. I test many brands, but PreSonus was my favorite option, because their interfaces are very robust, and their design work very well on the road.

What PreSonus software/hardware do you use and for what purpose?

I currently use a FireBox for my live presentations, and in my studio I use an AudioBox 44VSL.
About a year ago, I switched from my old DAW to Studio One Professional and so far it has been great.
Also, I started to use Nimbit to sell some of my music, like my last single, “It’s Our Time.”

What’s so great about PreSonus, anyhow?

I think the audio quality is awesome on the hardware and also the software. Sometimes is very hard to believe that you could get so good quality for such little price.

What’s the last big project that you worked on using PreSonus gear?

I produced “It’s Our Time” entirely in Studio One Professional and the result was great.
Listen for yourself!

Also, people can check out the first single, also created on Studio One, of my new project called BIG BROTHER, here:

What are you working on now—or next?

Everything! Right now with Vigilante, I’m working in my new album that will be called “Turning Point,” as well as putting a lot of time into Big Brother and Hopeless. Your readers can learn more about Vigilante, Big Brother and Hopeless at these links:

Get a Jump on the Learning with Rational Acoustics, Baton Rouge 10/24

Some of our fine friends from Rational Acoustics are coming down to Baton Rouge for PreSonuSphere, and they’re arriving a few days early. It’s good that they’ll have a little extra time to see the sights and sniff the smells, but the lead-up time to #PreSonuSphere isn’t all sensory indulgence. These guys are up to something, and you’re invited to take part. And if you choose to take part, we’ll get you into PreSonuSphere for FREE. What the heck.

While we may be known for our hospitality down thisaway, fact is the Rational Acoustics team are no strangers to conviviality. On Oct. 24, they’ll make an effort to top our no-longer-so-secret Jambalaya recipe—by serving y’all up a steaming-hot kettle of garlic & cumin-seasoned knowledge.

Specifically, this is an opportunity for you to learn all about Smaart v.7 Di straight from the guys who invented it—horse’s mouth and whatnot. Smaart V.7 DI is a simplified, streamlined, two-channel version of the standard Smaart v.7 analysis software—the ideal bridge between the limited features in the VSL Wizards, and the full-blown V.7 program. This eight-hour intensive course will teach you all there is to know about Smaart v.7 Di from software installation to Spectrum & Transfer Function Measurements.

Here’s the official course overview, taken from this PDF, which contains more details.

“The Smaart v.7 Di Training Class covers the fundamentals of using Smaart v.7 Di to make basic RTA, Spectrograph and Transfer Function measurements. Special attention is paid throughout the course to the subject of how to make valid and useful measurements, as opposed to simply making cool squiggly lines appear on the screen. This course focuses on providing the attendee with a functional knowledge of how Smaart v.7 Di operates as a tool and demonstrates techniques and processes for utilizing Smaart v.7 Di in essential system engineering tasks. Both classroom lecture and lab formats are utilized as well as in-class measurements via a signal distribution system to distribute the instructor’s stereo measurement signals to the entire class.”

So, since you’re going to be in town for PreSonuSphere anyhow, you really ought to come out to this thing.

Whens/wheres/good-to-knows:

  • Oct 24, 2013—9 a.m. to around 5 p.m. Class breaks at 10:15 a.m., noon, and 3:15 p.m.
