The kind sports at Hero’s Last Mission put together this exceptional video describing their workflow with the StudioLive 16.4.2. They are using the board to its fullest in both the studio and onstage, taking advantage of features like QMix personal monitoring and scene recall for saving board settings appropriate to multiple venues. Furthermore, they record live shows to Capture and then mix later in Studio One!

Here’s innovative and versatile PreSonus Artist Ian Ethan, performing “The Comforter” in his inimitable style on an 18-string acoustic doubleneck. Ian employs a lot of extended technique and looping to great effect. This is just one man and a doubleneck guitar, but it sounds like two guitars and a drum! Regarding the recording of this work, Ian says:

“I recorded this on-location at Ceaser Photography with my FireStudio Project and a laptop, as usual – a super easy and effective portable rig. I think it may be  my best recorded double-neck sound to date, even compared to stuff I’ve recorded in big high-end studios. I’m in the middle of recording my new album as well, at home, using a daisy-chained Firestudio Mobile and FireStudio 2626 to capture all of the live loop signals as well as the various pickup and internal mic outputs from my doubleneck, along with the external mics—a Royer 121 ribbon and Miktek CV4 tube condenser. I’m thrilled with how it’s sounding so far!”

International Sales Director of Mystery Mark Williams recently made an unusually local expedition into the Louisiana bayous, searching for the storied crystal cog that has been missing from the Antikythera mechanism since its discovery near a Greek island in 1900. Exhaustive research has led Williams to believe that the fabled gear may have wound up at the bottom of Hackberry Bayou, as a plane carrying the precious cargo was last seen flying over the area in 1936—never to be heard from again; feared crashed.

It’s suspected that this arcane mechanism was an early attempt by the Greeks to solve latency issues in their early audio recording endeavors—a work of mysterious genius that PreSonus feels may hold the secret to unlocking divine audio quality in future products.

While this mission was sadly thwarted by a pack of rabid alligators (don’t get between them and their young), it has only re-doubled Agent Williams’ efforts to find the missing crystal cog. But for now, the location of this ancient power remains lost to history…

Even a meager home studio is littered with more gains, trims, volumes, gazintas and gazoutas than one can know what to do with. All of this sequential amplification can lead to clipped gazintas, noisy tones, and, if you’re not careful, tinnitus. So how do you figure out all of your input and output levels?
