[This just in from Jody Whitesides, accomplished singer/songwriter/composer/PreSonus devotee…]
Once in a while I’m asked, “What would you consider you’re best piece of music?” I would have to go out on a limb and say there’s no way to choose which of my creations is my best, much like a parent can’t choose between their kids. I have to let others make that choice. Those choices are what happens when music I’ve created is used to help support other’s creations in TV,film, or games.
I’m fortunate to be getting a lot of placements and uses of my “children,” or as most would call them: songs! Getting to that artistic end result and making what I hear in my head a reality that can be shared with the world is a real pleasure. In making any song a reality, I end up using tools that I know will deliver the quality I need. The PreSonus Monitor Station is a staple in my studio. It’s vital in making it easier to get a great mix.
In the last three months I’ve had the following placements. In every single one of them, I’ve used the Monitor Station. Don’t let your creations leave the studio without using it!

[Headed to Austin for SXSW? We know your feet will be tired from pounding Austin’s hot concrete, but while you’re there, be sure to tread on over to The Deli Magazine’s StompBox Exhibit! Myraid stomps from good ol’ BOSS standbys to whacked-out Pigtronix weirdness will be equally represented by PreSonus headphone amplifiers. More info on the footacular stompstravaganza is copy/pasted from their press release below. Call it “journalism.”]
WHAT: StompBox Exhibit WHEN: March 15-16, 2013 WHERE: Clayworks Gallery, 1209 E 6th St, Austin
AUSTIN, TX – After launching the “StompBox Exhibit” concept in 2011 – i.e. a compact display of guitar pedals which allows visitors to test and compare them in the headphones – and after the successes of the 2012 edition at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn – which saw 23 manufacturers and 5 sponsors involved – The Deli Magazine and Delicious Audio are presenting the first edition of the Austin StompBox Exhibit.
200+ Pedals in the “Live Music Capital of the World”
This free, interactive, in-the-headphones display of guitar pedals will coincide with the busiest days of the famous live music festival hosted by the Texan city every March. It’s scheduled for Friday and Saturday March 15 and 16 in a room facing Austin’s most frequented stroll: East 6th Street, in the middle of Austin’s East Side (the city’s “hipstery” neighborhood a few blocks East of downtown).
The exhibit will attract thousand of pro and semi-pro guitarists who will flood the Texas capital in search of gigs and exposure during the biggest live music event in the US. Musicians are invited to bring their own guitars and plug them in directly into the pedals (there will be demo guitars available). They will be able to test the pedals directly via headphones, which will be plugged into an amp emulation unit and a PreSonus headphone amp.

[This just in from Sonic Sense Pro Audio! They just got a hold of the new Eris monitors, and had this to say:]
Today Sonic Sense had a visit from our buddies Mark Stone and CJ Lewis from PreSonus. We were lucky enough to get first listen on PreSonus’ new Eris line of studio monitors. All of us here were VERY impressed. Stay tuned for video demos and comparisons!

The Eris monitor ships in two varieties, the E5 and E8.
At Beach Road, we use a few pieces of PreSonus gear that are in regular use each and every day. At the forefront of our monitoring rig, we use a Central Station that has a custom built PSU by none other than rad PreSonus audio dude Chad Kelly. The unit was awesome before, but has been made more awesome by this simple upgrade. We also make heavy use of a FaderPort during all of our tracking and mixing to have some hands-on control when setting up the sessions.
Furthermore, we’ve also got a mobile recording rig that is comprised in part by a pair of PreSonus Digimax LT units, which are used to capture anything from drums to guitars to vocals on our remote sessions. The mic pres in the LT’s are fantastic, (as are all of the PreSonus pres,) and pack quite a punch in such a small 1U space. A PreSonus HP4 handles all of the headphone duties, since the amps are so blisteringly loud, and the unit is über small and fits in well when trying to keep the load light on the road.
Studio One Professional 2 gets a lot of use as well. It’s used on our main rig for simple editing and mastering, as well as on our mobile rig for the same. We also keep it installed on both our playback and recording rigs in our high-end mastering room for various tasks.
Buy our Studio One Professional 2 DAW for $399 and get a free HP4 headphone amp with 4 screaming-loud 150mW outputs. Offer good September only. Click here to download the form!
