Setting Up Logic to Use with the StudioLive

Aside from working with Capture, the StudioLive 16.4.2 also is a great front end for Apple’s Logic Studio. In this blog, we’ll show you how to set up a Logic Project from scratch that will allow you to record all of the analog inputs of your Studiolive mixer and route the outputs correctly so you can mixdown using the board.

Security Lockout on the StudioLive

Opening the StudioLive!

Here’s a video we did at NAMM when we got the very first StudioLive hot off of the production line.

Enjoy Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, and David Haynes playing live in the PreSonus booth at the Winter NAMM Show!

-Victor Wooten’s instrument went to a DI and then to the StudioLive. Steve Bailey was plugged into an effects processor, then a DI, and finally the StudioLive.

-David Haynes’s percussion controller triggered Easy Drummer software on a laptop equipped with a PreSonus AudioBox interface, patched to a pair of StudioLive line inputs.

-We recorded everything directly to Capture and did a quick mix; check it out!

New Feature! Daisy Chaining two StudioLive mixers!

Hey Folks,

We made a cool announcement about the first firmware update coming for the StudioLive. This will let you link two StudioLive consoles together to create a 32x4x2 mixer. Check it out!

Mixdown on The StudioLive

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everybody! Today I did a little mixing on the StudioLive of a live concert using Capture to play the tracks back. We are now only about 7-10 days from shipping this bad boy. Hope you like the blog and you have a safe and prosperous New Year!

2nd Live Gig with Eddie Mapp

Here’s my second gig with StudioLive and what a treat it was! Our good friend, Eddie Mapp, was in town for the holidays and just off the road with Stone Temple Pilots.

Eddie was kind enough to give the StudioLive a test mixing my band.

This was also my first time using the Capture software to record the gig.

Check it out!

First Gig with the StudioLive1642

Here’s my first time taking the StudioLive console out to a gig. My goal was to create several different monitor mixes and mix live from the stage with it. Despite a few problems with a late drummer and ground hum with the Keyboard channel, we pulled off the gig in style. The difference in fidelity was huge! The band commented on how much easier it was for them to hear on stage. Having the gate set as a downward expander on the vocals really helped to get the monitors loud and clear. On the next blog, I’ll try recording using Capture. Seeya!

Demo of StudioLive at All Pro Sound

Here’s my first demo with the StudioLive 1642 to one of our dealers in Pensacola, All Pro Sound. (This was shot on my birthday, October 28. Kind of a drag to be working on your birthday. But at least we got to eat sushi that night in Pensacola.) As we get going through the next several weeks, I’ll be doing more detailed demo’s for you folks in my studio. But hopefully this will serve as a good overview of the main features.

Welcome to the StudioLive Beta test!

Hi folks,

We are now starting our second phase of beta testing for the new StudioLive mixer. Over the next few weeks I hope to put it through some paces and let you all see how it works. I’ll be bringing it to gigs with my band as well as doing some recordings in my studio and also doing some shootouts with other mixers to see how it holds out. Feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. Thanks!!
