Sonic Sense Compares StudioLive 32.4.2AI to the 24.4.2

Sonic Sense Pro Audio is SO GOOD to us.

In this new video, they open with a nice breakdown of the workflow and feature upgrades in the new StudioLive 32.2.4AI as compared to the original StudioLive 24.4.2. They touch on Active Integration, computer-free wireless connectivity, Capture 2.1, Mute Groups, Scenes, Fat Channel updates, and more.

But they don’t stop there. They run a multi-track recording from the FoxField Four through BOTH mixers, and provide an A/B test of the stereo mix from both mixers, so you can hear the sonic improvements in the StudioLive 32.4.2AI for yourself!

Great work, guys, and thanks for your support!

WHA DAT?

Spotted this on Peter’s desk. In Baton Rouge, team spirit knows no bounds, but we had to draw the line the last time Rick showed up in full purple and gold body paint. We told him that we sent him home for a shower, but fact is it was really posed a significant health risk.

Saints fans, don’t get your hopes up… this is a one-off customization.

#PreSonuSphere Presenter: Craig Anderton!

CRAIG ANDERTON
Presenting in the Hartley Vey Workshop Theatre on Friday, Oct 25 at 1:30 p.m.
and in the Main Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11:00 a.m.

We don’t need to tell you Craig Anderton is an authority on all things music tech, but did you know one of his primary passions has always been guitar? The author of 21st Century Guitar digs into the nitty-gritty details of getting a killer guitar tone on your recordings. Like a master class for recording guitar, Craig will take you through it all using Studio One, covering both acoustic and electric guitar. Topics will include miking techniques vs. going direct, layering, EQ, utilizing multi-band chorus, advanced amp simulation, and much more. Space is limited, get there early!

As a top-tier authority on music and technology, Craig’s resume is too darn big to even fit on our website… but we do have room to say this: He has played on, produced, or mastered more than 20 major label recordings; and played guitar and keyboards on many pop-music sessions in New York. He founded HarmonyCentral.com, has written for Electronic Musician, Keyboard, Sound on Sound (UK), Rolling Stone, and Guitar Player, as well as for himself—26 books and counting.

Rodney’s StudioLive 32.4.2AI / Studio One 2.6 Webcast With ScanProAudioTV

A while back Rodney raised the bar for live webcasts with this great collaboration with ScanProAudioTV.  We really need to work with those guys again. I mean seriously, they have a green screen and everything.

Make a sandwich and strap in; this one clocks in at about 45:00, but that just means there’s no stone un-turned in this thorough investigation into our latest and greatest.

Topics include:

#ThrowbackThursday: Mark Stone and Eddie from @IronMaiden

Of all the Throwback Thursday submissions I’ve received, this is far and away my favorite. Blurrily pictured below is our National Sales Director and all-around trooper Mark Stone, alongside Iron Maiden’s undead mascot, Eddie!

Like Eddie, details surrounding how this photo came to be were eroded somewhere in time, likely taken during Mark’s wasted years in retail. But, rumor has it they involved an in-store signing by Maiden, followed by explicit instructions “not to mess with” Eddie.

These instructions were promptly followed by Eddie getting paraded around the mall to the delight and terror of children, chagrin from parents, and ended with a stellar footnote on Mark’s resume.

The Thunder Roadshow Rolls Through Texas!

This just in from Mark Stone, Justin Spence, and Johnny McAndrews. Looks like a good time had by all, thanks to The Rocketboys for coming out and performing as well!

We’re touring the new StudioLive AI digital mixers and the new StudioLive AI PA Loudspeakers, and so far the response has been overwhelmingly positive!

Want to visit with us and see the latest and greatest from PreSonus on the Thunder Roadshow? Check out our events page here: http://www.presonus.com/community/events

Barry Burchett is Pretty Excited

This is Barry Burchett from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. “Good things come to those who wait!” says Barry.

We agree. Thanks for the photo and we know you’ll love your StudioLive 32.4.2.AI. Best to ya, buddy.

#PreSonuSphere Presenter: Steve Savanyu!

STEVE SAVANYU
Presenting in the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre on Friday Oct. 25, 1:30 p.m.
The Right Microphone for The Job

Nobody ever has enough microphones. But  Audio-Technica guru Steve Savanyu isn’t here to sell you more mics. He’s here to show you how to intelligently use the ones you already have—which microphones to pick for various live and recording applications, and equally importantly, where to place them. An accomplished presenter and teacher, Steve has over 35 years of professional audio production experience in live sound, contracting, studio, and broadcast applications.

Steve is recognized as an InfoComm Academy adjunct faculty member and teaches audio-production crses at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. He’s also the Director of Educational Services at Audio-Technica, and all-around supreme guy.

Regarding PreSonuSphere, Steve has a lot to say:

“PreSonuSphere is a great opportunity to learn and share tips and techniques on how to get the most out of latest digital recording and live sound technology. It is also fun to see the latest and greatest products in action. I have participated since the very first one, both as an attendee and presenter. The hospitality (and the Jambalaya) is worth the price of admission alone.”

“My favorite fun memory was last year during the Saturday night event when John Mills was doing a live mixing demonstration in the Manship Theater. Rick and other execs were live on stage. There was a POV (point of view) camera facing down on the StudioLive 24.4.2 console projecting the console surface image on two large screens at the stage. This way the audience could see what John was doing with the console. Someone made the comment about John’s hands on the console (That was all you could see.) I stood behind John and reached in every so often so there was a third and fourth hand on the screen. The hands would smack each other and poke at each other. The crowd roared and we were laughing out loud.

“It is a pleasure to participate in this event and be a part of the “family” of users. To quote Don Davis (who founded the original Syn Aud Con audio training program)  ‘I was walking down the street and I had a dollar… I met a man who also had a dollar. We exchanged dollars and both walked away with a dollar. Later,  I was walking down another street and had an idea. I met a man who also had an idea. We exchanged ideas and both walked away with two ideas.’”

“PreSonuSphere is a street of ideas! Let’s meet and exchange; see you in October!

Buy Eris E5 or E8 monitors, get Studio One Artist Free!

The reviews for our new Eris monitors are pouring in, and, well. We’re happy. Currently the Eris speakers are enjoying a five-out-of-five AVERAGE user scores at Guitar Center AND Sweetwater, and we just can’t help but feel like celebrating. History has shown that the best way to share that celebratory spirit is to give away free kick-ass stuff. In this case, it’s Studio One Artist. Don’t forget to grab the free 2.6 update when you install it!

From a couple of days ago until March 31st, you’ll get Studio One Artist FREE if you purchase a Eris E5 or E8 monitors. This offer is available worldwide.

Some readers prefer user reviews, others want to know what the pros have to say. Well, here’s a bit of that:

  • PreSonus has a reputation of making great products “for the rest of us,” and the Eris speakers follow that philosophy.” Jon Chappell, Harmony Central
  • Setting them up in my humble (yet effective) home studio for a few months helped me hear things I wasn’t hearing previously and helped me to provide better mixes for my clients.Eli Crews, Tape Op
  • “The PreSonus Eris E5 and E8 are quality made, well equipped and good-natured active speakers for near field… Five Stars” Felix Klostermann, Bonedo.De
